I am John Dixon
Actor, Voice Artist, Presenter and Speaker
I worked for twenty years as an actor, on stage, screen and television, as well as performing as a voice artist and writer, before going to work behind the camera for twenty five years, now I have returned to acting.
In my time away from acting, I worked with government ministers,
company directors, leading barristers, surgeons, professors and senior
figures in the clergy. In this time I have also dealt with the darker side of the world of business, which includes being threatened at gunpoint in Ethiopia and avoiding an attempted armed kidnaping in Kazakhstan, along with being falsely accused of fraud and clearing my name in court.
So if you’re looking for authenticity, I have first hand experience of international business life combined with twenty years of acting experience that may be interesting when casting.

I have worked on stage, screen and TV for over 30 years.
John has an extensive CV of stage roles, along with a varied range of credits on radio. television and film.
Voice Artist
I have over 35 years experience as a voice artist.
Voice over work includes TV narration, TV and radio commercial, branded and corporate narration, animation characters and extensive radio drama work.
Presenter
I have presented extensively
both on screen and at live events.
John worked as a presenter on over sixty branded films, as well as on Television and at live events both in the UK, USA and UAE.
Speaker
I have worked as a Speaker at events with audiences of over 500 delegates.
Working as a speaker I have been able to utilise my skills as a writer, actor and presenter to deliver
humourous, enlightening and entertaining speaker presentations.
Background
My first job was as a performer and writer in residence at the MAC (Midlands Arts Centre) in Birmingham, before touring to Liverpool and Birmingham in Peter Pan. I then became a cast member in the first national tour of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolored Dream Coat.
I then performed in repertory theatres around the country including, The Birmingham Rep, Northampton Theatre Royal, Derby Playhouse, The Northcott Exeter, Nottingham Playhouse, Oldham Colosseum, Belgrade Coventry, Sheffield Crucible and Everyman Cheltenham.

Towards the end of the first period of my career as an actor, I directed a double bill of Joe Orton plays ‘The Good and Faithful Servant’ and ‘The Ruffian on the Stair” at the Belgrade Coventry.​​

In 1994 I began the second period of my career as a writer, director and producer of television documentaries and factual programming (BBC, ITV, Discovery, ESPN, UKTV etc). Also in this time I wrote for BBC Radio 4 drama.

I have now returned to performing in front of the camera etc as I have always regarded my acting/performing career as 'unfinished business'.
Actor
I began my professional career at the age of 18 as a performer/writer in residence at the MAC in Birmingham. From there I went on to work at many of the top repertory theatres in the country, including Nottingham Playhouse, Birmingham Rep and Sheffield Crucible.

In this time, I also worked extensively on television for the BBC and ITV as well as appearing in several feature films including 'A Fish called Wanda' and 'The Slipper and the Rose'.
​
In 1990, I moved behind the camera and built a successful second career as a writer, director and producer delivering programming to the BBC, ITV, Discovery, ESPN and UKTV.
​
But I have now returned to being in front of the camera as an actor, which I have always regarded as 'unfinished business'.
